Half and Half
Creating maps with DrDepth BT Edition gives a different view of the bottom just like the Lowrance StructureScan gives us a different view. When you fish walleye and other species the bottom composition, shape and hardness are important for locating and understanding how fish relate to the structure.
This flat point is unusual in that the west side has harder bottom than the east side. This data was collected with a Lowrance LCX model. I created the depth and bottom hardness maps with DrDepth BT Edition.

I then created a Lowrance map (.lcm) to use as the Lowrance map and replayed the logged chart to show me driving over the west and east ends to show how the Lowrance sonar looks like in comparison to the bottom hardness map. I then took screen captures and added color lines to show where the boat was on the trail on the map compared to where the boat was on the sonar display. Look closely and it will make sense.
East Side

West Side

I am sure that 99% of walleye anglers will pick the west side of the point if they had this map. But since there are no fish or bait it might not be good that day. When I see good structure and good bottom content without life I will keep looking unless I don’t find any fish with the sonar , I will then fish fishy looking spots like the west side of the point.
