DrDepth Data Filing Tips

Merging multiple maps on one lake

As you learn the value of DrDepth maps you will have many files to organize. I suggest that after you collect new data and convert the data files to DrDepth files that you think about a filing system.

I start with a state folder and then subfolders in this example.

- Wisconsin

-Winnebago

- Secret Hump 1

- Bob’s big fish point

- MP

- And many others

If you have 10 spots mapped separately on one lake, you will want want to merge them into one LCM map to display in your Lowrance when you fish that lake. I place all the MP files in the MP folder so I can merge all of them into one LCM map.

Select Tools, Create Iso/contour lines and Polish Format (Lowrance types) (*.mp). Make sure you select the MP folder to save this file.

Next select Tools, Merge m:ps to lcm

Use the SHIFT button to select all of the MP files.

Select open, name the file and select save.
Copy the LCM file to a SD card, place it in your Lowrance and zoom to the area to see the maps before you go fishing to make sure it is correct.

I don’t have time to map entire lakes so I map my fishing spots. This method works great in tournaments because I might not come back to this lake for 5 years and I can’t remember the detail of structure but it comes back quicker when I see my waypoints (note the 25 inch waypoint) on my maps.
